MWCF Core program activities under Health and Nutrition

We believe that all children have a right to adequate nutrition as envisaged in the Convention on Rights of the Child (CRC). Yet, access to nutritious food remains a huge challenge to OVC and/or poor and vulnerable children given the high poverty levels that continue to strike the country. As such, children’s physical growth and or immune development are severally affected. Once the immune system is affected, children become prone to serious illnesses and diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, malaria and other health conditions. This is what premises MWCF program activities as below.
1. Ensure that OVCs and children from poor and vulnerable under the ministry access immunization from nearby health centers offering the services 2. Work with partners to secure nutritious food for children to ensure early child development, school learning, and children survival. 3. Work with families of OVCs to ensure food security 4. Offer psychosocial support to orphans and vulnerable children 5. Support parents and caregivers of orphans and vulnerable children with guidance on how to provide basic health care to their families members, including children. This is done through trainings, psychosocial support, and economic empowerment. 6. Implement Youth Action and Empowerment Projects (YAEP) through sports development. MWCF uses sports and play-based approach to train and counsel youths to equip them with the required health knowledge and skills. 7. Conduct sensitization campaigns for in-school and out-of-school youths about HIV/AIDS, Male circumcision, and Youth Empowerment projects through tailor-made training approaches.
